I Have Decided to Write Again
Well, sort of.
I like to think & enjoy reading, therefore writing is never a big problem. I don’t remember exactly when I started to like to write, but when I realised writing is enjoyable, I couldn’t stop myself from doing so. My first job required me to write about 4.000 words per month, yet I felt it was like a walk in the park. Easy and simple.
My plan to write regularly has always been there. Back in 2021, I used the #AdventCalendar as a trigger for me to write. I wanted to use it again, but work came my way, and I had to change my plan.
Last year, I discovered something interesting. I found that balancing daily life, routine work, and writing regularly is possible. I learned this from Ivan Lanin. He is a language enthusiast, an avid Wikipedia enjoyer, and a very dedicated writer. He writes one article every day. Yes, every single day. He said that writing allows him to keep track of his ideas, and I couldn’t agree more with that.
Apart from keeping one’s mind in its place, I also found that writing regularly can make one more disciplined. I must admit that lost this trait in 2023, and I want to get it back. I want to be more disciplined, therefore I can be a better version of myself every single day.
Writing is not easy, indeed. Yet, I want to challenge myself. This year, I want to write in multiple languages (English, Indonesian, etc.) for a full month. I will use #JanuaryJournal, #JurnalJanuari, and something like those as my campaign & to keep track of my progress.
I will try to make my articles short (about 500 words maximum). I will also try to expand the field of my writings. I’m not just going to write about … well, football, but I will also try to write about other things that I enjoy. Those include (but are not limited to) issues like theology, politics, and movies, among others.
Hopefully, this 31-day writing adventure can help me to improve myself. Whether I can produce high-quality articles (or even better, high-quality habits) after this, only time will tell.
Enjoy the journey.
